Jamie Rouse, the 2007 Orvis-Endorsed Guide of the Year, developed his J-Dub Sow Bug while guiding on Arkansas’ famed White and Little Red Rivers. Present in most tailwaters or slow-moving clear streams, sow bugs can constitute a large portion of a trout’s diet, and typically live in streambed gravel. Sow bugs can be deadly when fished as a fly, and the J-Dub Sow Bug is one of the best patterns we’ve found.
